ONeill rues unlucky Aston Villa

O'Neill rues unlucky Aston Villa

01 March 2008 - 23:51

Aston Villa only just missed out on shockingly defeating Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday - and Martin O'Neill admitted he was gutted with the late equaliser from Nicklas Bendtner, but praised the Villains for their performance.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • "We played brilliantly from the start until about the 93rd minute," O'Neill told Sky Sports.

"I'm so pleased with the team in many aspects but there is major disappointment in the dressing room that we haven't won.

"It was just particularly galling because at 1-0 we had a number of chances to put the game beyond them.

"I'm thinking that there will not have been many sides, including the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, that have come here and given Arsenal the problems that we did.

"That's how good our performance was. Had we won we would have deserved it."
