Leicester City have reportedly set their sights on landing Jamaal Lascelles from Newcastle United, should they lose Harry Maguire to Manchester United this summer.
Jose Mourinho's side have already made a formal approach for Maguire this month and reports have suggested that they could seal a £65m deal before the transfer deadline on August 9.
Amidst this, the Foxes are already weighing up suitable replacements and according to The Sun, Lascelles has been earmarked as the prime defensive target to reinforce the heart of their backline.
Lascelles has made immense progress with the Magpies since joining them from Nottingham Forest and he is presently their leader after succeeding Fabricio Coloccini at the start of the 2016/17 campaign.
The Foxes are said to be preparing an offer worth £35m for the 24-year-old but it remains to be seen whether the Magpies would even consider the offer, given his departure could put them at risk of relegation next term.
