Kevin de Bruynes agent delivers injury update on Belgian midfielder

De Bruyne could return sooner than expected from injury - agent

Kevin de Bruyne's agent delivers injury update on Belgian midfielder

16 August 2018 - 13:14

The representative of Kevin De Bruyne has suggested that the midfielder has not suffered a serious knee injury and he could return to first-team action before the turn of the year.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • Earlier on Wednesday, the Citizens confirmed that the Belgian had picked up an injury in training and reports thereafter suggested that he could be ruled out for the campaign after he was spotted in crutches at the premiere of the City documentary 'All or Nothing'.

However, according to agent Patrick de Koster, the injury is quite similar to the one De Bruyne sustained in January 2016 and based on that, he could potentially return in a couple of months' time.

"I spoke to Kevin, and he confirmed that he had injured his knee in training. It is the same one as previously, and he felt the same way," he told Sportza. "On that occasion no ligaments were torn, and that is the main thing. If that was the case he would be out for six to nine months."

Despite the positives, De Bruyne is scheduled to travel to Spain to checkup with specialist Ramon Cugat and only thereafter, the club may be able to determine the exact timeframe for the Belgian's absence.

Manchester City started their Premier League campaign with a comfortable 2-0 win over Unai Emery's Arsenal and they are now scheduled to host Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
