Klopp criticises Mignolet for going public with his issues

Jurgen Klopp hits out at goalkeeper Simon Mignolet

01 September 2018 - 09:08

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reportedly hit out at goalkeeper Simon Mignolet in the aftermath of the comments made following Loris Karius' departure.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Mignolet was widely expected to make way from the club before the transfer deadline but in a quick turnaround of events, it was rather Loris Karius, who pursued a season-long loan with Besiktas.

Thereafter, Mignolet labelled the temporary move as 'bizarre' and this has not gone well with the club's manager. In a report covered by Sky Sports News, Klopp said:

"It was still okay. If he was happy to be a number two then I wouldn't know him - he's a top professional. If you want to say something, say it to me directly than to a newspaper. He's on pretty good pay at Liverpool by the way."

Mignolet has played deputy to summer signing Alisson over the past two games and he is likely to maintain his position when the Reds face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium this afternoon.
