Former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar has ruled out a return to the club as director of football.
The Dutchman has been linked with the position in recent weeks, but the former Ajax goalkeeper has denied the reports.
"I saw it (the report) a few weeks ago in the press, but that story about United is nonsense," he said on the Inside Ajax program on Ziggo Sport.
Van der Sar is the current general director of Ajax and he has also revealed that he has two years remaining in his current contract with the Dutch side.
He also added that he would like to extend his stay with the club, further ruling out a move to United in the future.
After an unsatisfactory summer transfer window for José Mourinho, United are reportedly looking to hire a director of football to help the club avoid the same failures in future.
United are also eyeing AS Roma sporting director Monchi, according to reports.
