Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge praised the club's goalkeeper Alisson Becker after an inspired performance against Chelsea last weekend in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian shot stopper made a number of top drawer saves to keep the Anfield club in the game.

  • Chelsea urged to sign Man City star on free transfer
  • Chelsea squad want Xabi Alonso as manager

  • Sturridge later scored a stunning goal to level the scores at 1-1, but the forward left special praise for the Brazilian keeper: “He had a great game. He was unfortunate not to get a clean sheet but he’s a world-class goalkeeper, as is Si [Mignolet].

“We’ve got some good young goalkeepers at the club too but he’s showing his qualities and it was just important to keep going.

“Our defence have been really good also and they have had a lot of clean sheets so far this season, and they will be upset they haven’t got one today but I think all in all it’s probably a fair result.”

Liverpool smashed the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper when signing Alisson Becker from AS Roma during the summer transfer window.
