Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is expected to be backed with a respectable transfer kitty when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
The Portuguese tactician was seemingly desperate to sign a new centre-back during the summer but the club's restricted budget meant that his wish was not fulfilled before the transfer deadline.
However, with the transfer window reopening in January, Mourinho appears set to be backed by the board, who are prepared to offer him as much as £100m in funds, The Mirror reports.
It is added that a new central defender continues to remain the priority, though the club may also seek to sign a new marksman with Romelu Lukaku struggling for goals this term.
Manchester United bagged just a much-needed league win against Everton over the weekend and the result sees them eighth on the table, five points behind the top four positions which assure Champions League qualification.
