Spanish outfit Athletic Bilbao are reportedly looking at the option of re-signing Ander Herrera from Manchester United when his contract expires next summer.
Herrera has started just one Premier League game for the Red Devils this term but he played a key role during the recent 2-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League.
Nonetheless, his future remains a concern with his contract expiring in eight months' time and according to The Independent, Bilbao could seek to take advantage of the same.
Herrera is free to speak to overseas clubs when the transfer window reopens and Bilbao are likely to make the step forward by offering him a pre-contract to join the club next summer.
Herrera came through the youth system with the Basque outfit and he made 128 appearances for them across all competitions before heading to Old Trafford in the summer of 2014.
The Spaniard is likely to reclaim his starting spot this weekend when Manchester United make the trip across town to face arch-rivals Manchester City.
