United considering winter approach for Pellegrini

Manchester United plan winter attempt for Roma playmaker

12 November 2018 - 09:38

Manchester United are reportedly planning a winter attempt to sign Lorenzo Pellegrini after failing to pursue the Roma midfielder in the previous transfer window.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • The Italy international was identified as one of the prime targets for United during the summer but the board are said to have cooled their interest after recruiting Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk.

United have since gone through a difficult period in the Premier League where they have struggled to find sufficient creativity in the centre of the park and Calciomercato claims that this could revive their pursuit of Pellegrini.

Pellegrini, who rejoined the Giallorossi from Sassuolo last year, is presently understood to have an affordable release clause of just £26m on his existing contract.

He has been in good form for the Italian giants this term with two goals and a further five assists across all competitions. His current deal expires in the summer of 2022.
