Keegan: Newcastle spirits are high

16 March 2008 - 17:17

Kevin Keegan has insisted that he is happy with the spirit in the Newcastle camp despite the team still looking for their first victory in over 13 games. Birmingham will host the Toon on Monday in the Premiership.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • "It is our job to pick them up all the time - and sometimes, it is their job to pick us up. It is a two-way thing," said Keegan.

"But spirits are still pretty high and a win would just elevate them and take them on to another level.

"That has always been the case in football. Players do not enjoy losing football matches.

"The players in the team feel under pressure and the players out of the team feel they should be in. It has never been any different.

"You can find yourselves playing the Arsenal's and the Chelsea's and the Manchester United's and the Liverpool's and the tough ones around you, and you can find yourselves easily in this division losing three or four games on the trot.

"It's a bit harder to find yourselves winning them - that's why the top teams are the top teams. They manage to do that."
