Wolverhampton Wanderers could reportedly secure the signature of Pepe at the turn of the year after the Portuguese ace mutually terminated his contract with Besiktas.
The Portugal international was on the club's radar during the summer but a deal could not materialise with Besiktas being reluctant to part ways with the defender.
However, in six months' time, the player's position has changed amid Besiktas' economic issues and he has recently been released from his contract, seven months ahead of schedule.
According to Record, the Molineux is now a possible destination for the Euro 2016 winner with Nuno understood to be a keen admirer of the centre-back despite his trailing age.
The 35-year-old had been in impressive form for Besiktas in both the domestic and European competitions this term and he contributed five goals during the ongoing campaign before his release.
Meanwhile, Wolves are currently in the top half of the standings after three-straight victories and just one point separate them from sixth-placed Manchester United.
The west Midlands side already have two of Pepe's close compatriots in their ranks after pursuing Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho during the previous transfer window.
