Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay a significant compensation sum in order to appoint Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino as their next head coach in the summer.

  • The Red Devils have experienced an upheaval in league form under the guidance of caretaker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the club have yet to open talks with the Norwegian regarding the permanent role.

According to Standard Sport, the Mancunian giants are looking into a potential approach for Pochettino from Spurs despite their unfruitful relationship with their chairman Daniel Levy.

It is added that they could be prepared to offer a significant compensation package of more than £34m to release the Argentine from his contract, which only expires in the summer of 2023.

Pochettino has guided Tottenham Hotspur to three successive top-four finishes in the Premier League and he should replicate the same with the Capital side this term.

He has not managed to cross the final hurdle to guide the team to trophy success and this may eventually pave the way for a bigger challenge where he has the assurances to spend heavily in the transfer market.
