Carrasco open to Europe return this summer

Belgian star opens door to Arsenal move

Belgium international Yannick Ferreira Carrasco has opened the door to joining a European-based club when the season comes to a close.

  • Chelsea star to miss FA Cup final with hamstring injury
  • Joao Pedro makes Chelsea transfer decision
  • The winger was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal last summer but a deal failed to materialise after Dalian Yifang declined to entertain offers for his services.

Despite this, the speculation regarding his future has refused to cease and speaking to HLN, he has acknowledged that he would personally prefer to return to Europe at the end of the season.

"I would love to return to Europe. A lot of clubs were interested in me. We tried to find a solution in January that would enable me to leave Dalian Yifang. But I can understand the club's thinking. They wanted me to stay," he said.

Carrasco had been earmarked as Unai Emery's prime target to strengthen the wider positions last winter but the Gunners could not convince Dalian Yifang into accepting the proposed loan move.

Still, they have been fancied to try again when the transfer window reopens and a recent report from The Sun has claimed that a fee of around £25m could be sufficient to lure him from the Far East in the summer.
