De Gea, Pogba demand salary hike amid fears of missing out on the top four

Manchester United duo demand new contracts amid top-four concern

Manchester United duo Paul Pogba and David de Gea are understood to have demanded an increase in their respective salaries amid fears that the club could miss out on a top-four spot in the Premier League.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The Red Devils are presently two points behind fourth-placed Arsenal in the standings and they face a crucial period ahead with games against Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Should the club fail to qualify for next season's Champions League, it is said that every player in the squad would be handed a 25 percent wage cut and that is something which De Gea and Pogba don't seem to agree upon.

According to The Times, both Pogba and De Gea want fresh contracts to offset the salary reduction clause, though there are no assurances that either player will commit their long-term futures at Old Trafford.

Pogba, who has more than two years remaining on his deal, has been linked with Real Madrid of late. De Gea, meanwhile, will be entering the final 12 months of his United deal this summer.
