Manchester United ace given chance to join Barcelona

Barcelona have reportedly made contact with the entourage of Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata as they seek to lure him on a free transfer in the summer.

The Spain international has less than two months remaining on his current deal with the Red Devils and reports indicate that he is likely to leave the club on a Bosman when his contract expires.

Juventus and Atletico Madrid have already been linked with a move for the midfielder, but according to The Sun, the Blaugrana are prepared to make an offer of their own.

As per the publication, Mata has emerged as a shock target for the Spanish champions and they are prepared to acquire his signature, provided he takes a paycut on his current &pound170,000-a-week wages.

Mata has been with United for the past four-and-a-half seasons, but he has decided against renewing his deal with the club reluctant to offer him more than a year's extension.
