Belgian winger open to joining Arsenal this summer?

Belgium international Yannick Ferreira Carrasco has opened the possibility of joining Arsenal this summer after failing to do so during the 2019 winter transfer window.

  • The forward had been one of the Gunners' top targets to strengthen the wider attacking departure in January but they failed to convince Dalian Yifang into a potential sale.

As such, they opted to pursue Denis Suarez on a short-term loan from Barcelona instead but the move was far from useful with the Spaniard managing just six substitute appearances before a season-ending injury.

Speaking to HLN, Carrasco has now revealed that he would prefer to leave the Chinese Super League side this summer after being denied the opportunity to join Arsenal or another top European side earlier in the year.

"There was interest from Arsenal and I had a lot of teams in January giving me the chance to go back to Europe, but here the president said it was difficult to go then. Maybe this summer it is possible. If it is a good thing and I want to go, maybe I can speak with the president," he said.

Carrasco was linked with a Premier League move during his time at Atletico Madrid but he made the shock decision to head to the Far East with newly-promoted Dalian Yifang in February 2018.

He has since enjoyed good success with 14 goals and six assists across all competitions but he is desperate to make a return to Europe to enhance his starting prospects with the national team.
