Manchester United planning surprise move for Bundesliga striker?

28 May 2019 - 19:55

Manchester United are reportedly said to be plotting a surprise move to secure the services of Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The Red Devils recently witnessed a disappointing league season where they managed to finish sixth, and this is expected to encourage a spending spree this summer.

According to TMW, the Mancunian giants are keeping a close watch on the proceedings of Lewandowski and they could make an approach, should the Poland international give the green light to pursue a fresh challenge.

Lewandowski has been regularly linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena in the past but the Bayern hierarchy have made it clear that the Poland international is not for sale.

Still, the speculation regarding his future has failed to cease and it remains to be seen whether they are tempted to sell for a significant transfer sum with his contract expiring in two years' time.

United's successful pursuit of a new striker could coincide with the departure of Romelu Lukaku, who managed just 15 goals for the club across all competitions last term.
