Arsenal are unlikely to afford the signing of Lyon midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer due to the hefty wages commanded by Mesut Ozil at the club.
Fekir came on the cusp of joining Liverpool during the summer of 2018 and he has now been touted to part ways with Lyon with just 12 months left on his contract.
Amidst this, L'Equipe has revealed that the Gunners have made contact with the player's entourage, though any deal may depend on the departure of Ozil as they need to reduce their wage bill first.
Ozil is currently on a club-record salary of £350,000-a-week and reports have emerged that the club are unlikely to sanction his sale on a permanent basis during the current transfer window.
Fenerbahce were recently linked with a loan move for the former Germany international but they have since stated that they hold no interest in landing the player's services.
Meanwhile, Fekir could make a potential move to the Spanish La Liga this summer with interest from Real Betis, Valencia and Sevilla. He bagged 12 goals for Lyon during the previous campaign.
