Manchester United boss spoke with Tottenham Hotspur star over transfer move

16 August 2019 - 18:45

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is understood to have made contact with Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen regarding a potential move to Old Trafford this summer.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • The Denmark international was heavily linked with the Red Devils prior to the Premier League transfer deadline but the move did not materialise beyond the initial speculation.

According to The Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer is understood to have personally spoke with the attacker to lure him to Old Trafford but the Dane made it clear that he wanted to move to Spain.

Real Madrid have been the solitary La Liga side, who have been associated with a move for the former Ajax graduate but they are yet to make a formal approach for his signature.

Spurs were initially said to be demanding as much as £130m for the Dane but they have drastically reduced the asking price to £50m, considering the midfielder's contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
