Arsenal's record signing Nicolas Pepe has revealed that he chose to make the move to the Emirates Stadium due to the club's ambition of competing at the top.
The Ivory Coast international's arrival at the north London giants came as a surprise at the beginning of this month after the club broke their transfer record by sanctioning a £72m deal.
Since then, Pepe has made a couple of substitute appearances where he has not made a big contribution but he is looking forward to guiding the club back to the Champions League.
"I chose to come here because it’s a club with a lot of ambition. They have the dream of coming back to the Champions League and I am also an ambitious person, so the choice was very logical," he told Arsenal.com.
The former Lille man added that the Europa League also remains a priority for him, and hopefully the club can go one further than the previous campaign and lift the trophy this term.
Pepe could make the starting lineup for the Gunners when they make the Merseyside trip to face Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend. Arsenal are currently just behind the Reds at the top of the table on goal difference.
