Mohamed Elneny set for Arsenal loan departure

Elneny to depart Arsenal

Mohamed Elneny set for Arsenal loan departure

31 August 2019 - 08:15

Arsenal and Besiktas have agreed terms to allow Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed Elneny to depart the Emirates Stadium on a season-long loan deal to Turkey. Elneny has slipped down the pecking order at the North London side and Besiktas are closing in on a deal for the player.

  • With Elneny's future at the Gunners seemingly coming to an end, the Egyptian had instructed his agent to find him a new club and a move to Turkey appeared to be the favourite option for the midfielder. Galatasaray, Trabzonspor and Besiktas were all in the race to sign the former Basel star.

However it is Besiktas who have won the race to sign Elneny, with the club's sporting director Ali Naibi confirming that a deal has been done in a conversation with reporters: “We have reached an agreement with Arsenal over Mohamed Elneny. He will undergo his medical next. If he passes we will add him to our squad on a loan transfer.”

It is understood that Arsenal will later accept a bid of £7.5 million to let Elneny leave the club on a permanent basis.
