Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has revealed his delight after the Blues registered their first home win of the Premier League campaign.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The west London side have produced a mixed bag in terms of performances this term and they went into the Brighton & Hove Albion game with just two points from three home games.

However, they managed to control the proceedings against Brighton from the beginning till the end and this contributed to a 2-0 win with the first clean sheet of the season.

Speaking after the game, Lampard acknowledged that the result will offer confidence to the first-team squad, given they were able to secure the victory without offering the opposition with the chance to make a comeback.

"We needed the win. We haven't had a 90 minute game where we've controlled it enough. The only disappointment is we didn't have more goals. A clean sheet as well. It is good for the confidence of everyone," he told BBC Sport.

With the victory, the Blues have temporarily jumped to sixth on the Premier League table and they are just within goal difference off the top four. They are scheduled to face Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
