Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has hinted that he might sign a new contract at the club, despite rumours that the Belgian international would be departing for a move to Italy or Spain. Real Madrid, AC Milan and Valencia have all been linked with a transfer for the Spurs centre-back in recent weeks.
The 32-year-old has apparently decided that his long-term future could stay with Mauricio Pochettino's club, as the defender has insisted that contract negotiations appear to be under way.
"I prefer not to go too deep into [the contract talks] but there’s always some movement everywhere," Vertonghen said.
"It’s my eighth season now, I had a great past, I’m feeling great at the moment in every single way here. ‘That’s the only thing I want to say about that.
"I’m very ambitious and I feel I’ve got a couple of good years left in me, that’s definitely how I’m feeling now."
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is a huge fan of the Belgium international and has already opened talks with Vertonghen's agent regarding a new deal with the North London outfit.
