Dimitar Berbatov sends Erling Haaland warning to Manchester United

Berbatov says United should stay away from Haaland

Dimitar Berbatov sends Erling Haaland warning to Manchester United

14 December 2019 - 07:45

Manchester United favourite Dimitar Berbatov has said that the Red Devils should focus on other areas on the playing field rather than the strengthening the centre-forward department next month.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Burnley clash
  • Man Utd attacker suspended for Brentford game

  • The Red Devils have had a mixed season in the Premier League and they are currently within five points off fourth-placed Chelsea after bagging back-to-back wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Of late, there has been the talk of Haaland making the move to Old Trafford but Berbatov feels that the club have sufficient options already with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood in good run of form.

He added that Haaland offers something different with his physical presence upfront but he would think twice before making an approach for the teenager, who will be taking a massive step up from the Austrian top-flight.

"I don't think United need to sign a striker in January as they have decent options up front already. Haaland would offer United something different," he was quoted as saying by Standard Sport.

"But coming from Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga would be a massive step up, so United need to think carefully about if he's the right man and how he would fit in with their style of play."

United recently bagged a 4-0 triumph over AZ Alkmaar in the final group stage game of the Europa League. Mason Greenwood stole the headlines with two goals and an assist in the second half.
