Juventus star to return to his former club?

According to The Sun, Ajax are interested in bringing back Matthijs de Ligt from Juventus on a loan deal.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • The Dutch centre-back joined the Bianconeri for a reported fee of £68million in the summer but has since failed to live up to the expectations.

As it stands, things are not going well for the 20-year-old at Turin, as he is currently behind Merih Demiral in the pecking order of Maurizio Sarri. De Ligt has made 13 starts in Serie A this season, hardly making any impact.

Ajax are now willing to take back their former captain on a loan deal to help him find his feet. De Ligt was exceptional for the Amsterdam outfit last term, helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, Sarri still holds the young defender in high regard after commenting that he could become the best in the future.

Juve have been slowly adapting to Sarri’s style of play and are now second in the Serie A table.
