Manchester United have reportedly opted against a January move to sign Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Red Devils recently confirmed that Marcus Rashford has been sidelined for two months due to a double stress fracture in his back and that has left them with just Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood as the striking options.
As a result, they have been touted to sign a new striker and reports have recently stated that Cavani could be lured to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline next week.
However, according to The Times, that is simply not the case and the United board are hesitant to make an approach for the Uruguay international, who will be turning 33 next month.
Cavani has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in recent weeks and a deal could be in the offing in the coming days with Les Parisiens confirming that the striker has handed in a transfer request.
Manchester United host Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
