Carragher has broken rib

Liverpool centre back Jamie Carragher has broken his rib after being taken off 15 minutes before the end in Liverpool's match with Sunderland. The collision with Jose Reina has meant he could miss a few weeks of football.

Sami Hyppia is expected to take Carragher's spot in the side despite picking up an injury also. "Sami has a broken nose but will be available for the second leg of our Champions League qualifier," read a statement on Liverpool's official website.



"Jamie underwent a series of investigations on Sunday morning which confirmed he has a broken rib and has also developed a pneumothorax."
