McLeish expects Zarate offers

McLeish expects Zarate offers

03 April 2008 - 22:03

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has admitted he expects other clubs to make offers for Blues striker Mauro Zarate. The striker has been in superb form this season.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • "He is 21 and his introduction into the Premier League has been a baptism of fire," McLeish told Sky Sports News.

"He knows what we want from him we don't have to tell him what to do when he has got the ball at his feet in terms of how to beat a man, but what we will try to impress upon him is looking for other people because when you got the ability to beat a man it opens space for others.

"If we can put everything together he is going to be some player.

"I would have thought so. When he came here on loan a few of the big guns were disappointed we nipped in before them because he was definitely on the radar. (other clubs interested in signing him).

"If some of our boys are being targeted by big clubs - that's great that means we are playing well and means individuals are playing well."
