Ole suggests Rashford won't return to action until May

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer issues worrying update on Marcus Rashford

19 February 2020 - 20:03

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that Marcus Rashford may only make a comeback during the closing stages of the current campaign.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The England international sustained a double stress fracture in his back last month and Solskjaer initially suggested that he could return to first-team action by mid-March.

However, the Norwegian has now diverted from that statement and said that the 22-year-old may not recover prior to the final weeks of the ongoing campaign.

"I would hope he's playing this season. It will just be touch and go towards the end. Hopefully we can get through this tournament and prolong the season," he told via Goal.com.

Odion Ighalo was pursued on loan from Shanghai Shenhua to overcome the absence of Rashford and the Nigerian could make his full debut during the forthcoming Europa League clash at Club Brugge.

United will make the trip to Bruges to face the Belgian outfit in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 clash on Thursday night. The club will be eyeing a fourth-straight away win.
