Dunne own goal helps Chelsea

Dunne own goal helps Chelsea

06 April 2008 - 00:35

Man City slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday as Richard Dunne put the ball through his own net very early on and another error from the defender helped Salomon Kalou wrap up the result to keep Chelsea 'hot on the heels' of Man United.

  • Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho
  • Arsenal want to bring Aymeric Laporte back to England

  • City City gave the visitors a goal start when Richard Dunne put through his own goal after six minutes, and although Michael Johnson had a shot cleared off the line they never seriously suggested they would discomfort Chelsea.

Their second goal, after 53 minutes, came almost immediately after the substitution when Essien placed a clever through- pass that deflected off Dunne into the path of Kalou. The Ivory Coast striker coolly went round Hart and rolled the ball into

    the net.

    Eriksson: not so bad

"I'm less depressed than I was a week ago, It was important for the players to know they can play good football against a team like Chelsea."
