Toon Army on the March

Toon Army on the March

06 April 2008 - 02:14

Newcastle enjoyed their third consecutive win punishing Reading 3 – 0. It was again a case of Keagan’s three pronged attack doing the damage with Martins, Owen and Viduka all on the scoresheet.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • Newcastle have quashed the possibility of relegation with three consecutive wins, the latest coming against Reading at St. James Park. Both sides started well creating chances but it was the home side through Obafemi Martins who broke the deadlock after just eighteen minutes with a well taken strike. Michael Owen then showcased his talent with a superb finish from a Habib Beye cross right on half time. Both sides were playing well but it was the class of Newcastle which has finally begun to shine through that gave them a 2 – 0 lead at half time. After half time Newcastle surged into ascendency which eventually resulted in a fine goal for Mark Viduka with Beye again the provider. Reading continued to battle away to their credit but they were playing against a Newcastle side inspired.

The final result was 3 – 0 and the Toon Army are being entertained tremendously by Viduka, Owen and Martins in particular. For the first time in a long time the Toon Army can confidently say they are looking forward to their next match and playing Portsmouth away will provide a stern test.
