Chelsea are reportedly planning to open discussions with Freiburg regarding a summer move for Luca Waldschmidt.
Waldschmidt is currently in his second season with the German outfit where he has netted only five times from 15 appearances in all competitions.
Despite his limited impact, he is said to have impressed manager Frank Lampard, who has been keeping a close eye on his performances during the campaign.
According to Bild, the west London side are planning to hold talks with Freiburg for the 23-year-old, who has already represented Germany on three occasions.
The same publication claims that the capital outfit could pay as much as £20m for the marksman. Aside from the centre-forward role, Waldschmidt is also capable of playing outwide.
Lampard believes the German would be physically suited to the demands of the Premier League. The Blues are keen on making at least four signings for next term but their spending could be limited due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
