Manchester United decide on Jesse Lingards future

Lingard will remain with United next season

Manchester United decide on Jesse Lingard's future

02 May 2020 - 19:54

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to extend Jesse Lingard's contract for another year and they won't push him through the exit door during the summer.

  • Confirmed Chelsea line-up vs Man City, James & Colwill start
  • Chelsea to move for Bendegúz Kovács?
  • The England international has struggled with his form over the past 16 months and he has failed to contribute a goal or an assist in the Premier League since the beginning of 2019.

As a result, he has fallen down the selection order under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has been excluded from the matchday squad on numerous occasions this year.

Lingard's current deal with the club expires at the end of next season but the club have the option of prolonging his stay for another 12 months by triggering the extension clause.

As things stand, the attacker has no plans of leaving the Red Devils during the summer and the club are expected to respect his decision rather than making the attempt to offload him, Bleacher Report claims.

Lingard has made over 200 appearances for United to date.
