Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry for Mohammed Salisu, who has been one of the standout performers for Real Valladolid this term.
The 21-year-old made his La Liga debut at the beginning of the current campaign and he has since managed another 27 appearances for the club across all competitions.
According to ESPN, the Red Devils are understood to have monitored the centre-back's progress over the course of the season and they have now approached the Spanish outfit over a summer deal.
The Ghanaian-born defender has more than two years remaining on his current deal with the club. He could, however, be available on the cheap with the alleged £10.4m release clause on his current contract.
Â
United are aiming to sign a new centre-back during the summer in order to provide competition to the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly for the central defensive berth alongside Harry Maguire.
Â
The club have been fancied to offload Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones on permanent deals and that should provide them with sufficient funds for the summer spending.
