Odion Ighalo to leave Manchester United next month?

United may not extend Ighalo's loan stay

Odion Ighalo to leave Manchester United next month?

Nigeria international Odion Ighalo appears likely to leave Manchester United when his loan contract expires at the end of May.

  • Wayne Rooney makes big Chelsea claim for next season
  • The 30-year-old joined the Red Devils on a four-month loan from Shanghai Shenhua on January 31 and he has made an impact with four goals from eight outings.

The current season is set to be extended beyond May with the ongoing delay because of the coronavirus pandemic but it seems that United may have to part ways with the striker prior to that.

According to Evening Standard, Shanghai have knocked back United's request to extend Ighalo's loan for a couple of months as they would prefer to sell him permanently.

It is added that they want at least £20m for his permanent exit and won't accept anything less for the former Watford man. United would have paid the figure earlier in the season but with the current financial climate, they are likely to resist paying the fee for the marksman.
