Ighalo set to extend Man Utd loan deal

28 May 2020 - 17:53

Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua have indicated that Odion Ighalo may be allowed to return to England and continue his loan spell with Man Utd in to January. Ighalo's term with United was cut short by the coronavirus outbreak and the Nigerian international has begged his parent club to allow him to extend his stay.

  • Arsenal make surprise decision on Viktor Gyokeres
  • Arsenal to battle Napoli to sign Alexsandro Ribeiro?

  • Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought in Ighalo in January and the powerful striker has impressed in the short time that he has played, leaving United in the ominous position of having to let go a goalscoring striker that they so desperately need.

Ighalo has only played three games for United but has still bagged an impressive four goals, demonstrating exactly why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to keep the player in his squad.

There are some concerns from Ighalo that China could suffer another outbreak of the coronavirus and there are travel restrictions on foreigners that are returning to China. It is understood that is up to one third of Chinese Super League players. In addition, those rules could extend all the way through to the new year, thus United will need to be swift to secure a deal to sign the powerful striker.
