Bayer Leverkusen chief updates on Kai Havertzs future

Voller insists Havertz won't be sold to Chelsea for discounted price

Bayer Leverkusen chief updates on Kai Havertz's future

08 August 2020 - 21:01

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has insisted that the club have no plans of selling Kai Havertz for a discounted deal amid the concrete interest from Chelsea.

  • Man Utd to enter race for Chelsea striker target?
  • Chelsea confirm season-ending injury for midfielder

  • The Germany international has had a fine season with 17 goals and nine assists across all competitions and he could yet have a key role to play in the club's quest for Europa League glory.

The Blues are currently the only club interested in signing Havertz, but Voller has stressed that the attacker won't be leaving Leverkusen until their Europa League campaign concludes.

Leverkusen have set an asking price of £90m for the 21-year-old and Voller mentioned that Chelsea would have to meet the valuation to sign the versatile ace.

"Havertz? We know that Chelsea are strongly interested in him - but we'll not sell any player before the end of the Europa League," He told Gazzetta dello Sport. "If Chelsea want to sign Kai, they must pay what we ask. No lower price because of Covid."

Havertz is expected to play for Leverkusen when they face Inter Milan in the quarter-final stage of the Europa League next week. They managed to reach the last eight of the competition after a 4-1 aggregate win over Rangers.
