Southgate: no Woody regrets

12 April 2008 - 08:59

Gareth Southgate has revealed he has no regrets about selling Jonathan Woodgate to Tottenham. Spurs' went on to win the Carling Cup thanks to a Woodgate goal, and Boro have struggled this year despite seemingly remaining safe from relegation.

  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • He said: "It was a gamble and only time will tell if it was the right decision or not, but we felt it was something we had to do at the time, not only because we had some young players coming through and it would be difficult to limit their opportunities.

"I don't feel there's a need to vindicate it. We know the talent of Jonathan Woodgate, but at the time he felt he needed a move. He felt a bit disillusioned with things here and I understand that."
