Liverpool stance on Thiago Alcantara revealed

Liverpool have reportedly refused to meet the asking price for Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara this summer.

  • Confirmed Arsenal line-up vs PSG, Havertz starts in eight changes
  • Xabi Alonso makes Nicolas Jackson transfer decision
  • The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield after deciding against extending his contract beyond June 2021.

A recent report claimed that the Reds have already agreed personal terms over a four-year deal with the midfielder, but it appears that they are far off from signing him.

Bayern have set an asking price of around £27m for the midfielder and the Premier League champions are unwilling to meet the valuation citing the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic, The Guardian reports.

Thiago is definitely worth the fee, given his quality on the playing field, but the Reds believe they can sign him on a pre-contract agreement in five months' time.

So far, no other club has made an approach for Thiago. Bayern may be compelled to lower their demands, given they don't want to lose the midfielder on a free transfer.
