Bayern Munich lower Thiago Alcantara asking price

25 August 2020 - 14:08

Bayern Munich have lowered their asking price for Thiago Alcantara, who has been linked with a Premier League move to Liverpool this summer.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • The Spain international has already turned down a new contract beyond next season and he is expected to be sold by the European champions.

It was recently reported that the club could demand as much as £36m for Thiago, but The Athletic claims that they have now lowered their price to £27m.

Still, the Reds are reluctant to meet the asking price for the midfielder, considering he could be signed on a pre-contract agreement at the turn of the year.

Arsenal have also been credited with an interest in the former Barcelona graduate, but they are similarly reluctant to meet the valuation set by the Bavarian giants.

Liverpool and Arsenal are scheduled to face each other in the Community Shield on Saturday. There are suggestions that both teams may field reserve team players with the risk of injuries ahead of next season.
