Chelsea's hierarchy are reportedly understood to prefer a move for Jude Bellingham over West Ham United's Declan Rice.
Bellingham was on the radar of several Premier League sides earlier this year, but he eventually made the move to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City for a reported fee of £25m.
According to Eurosport, Rice continues to remain a target for the west London side, but the board have the preference to land Bellingham over the England international.
Dortmund are unlikely to consider Bellingham's sale anytime soon and it is reported that the Blues could be prepared to wait patiently to land his signature.
Bellingham, 17, is capable of playing anywhere in the midfield and he has already made 11 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, contributing one goal and two assists.
Earlier last month, Bellingham confirmed that Manchester United were in the running to sign him and he had no doubts that Dortmund were the perfect place to continue his early career development.
