Manchester United prepared to sell goalkeeper on a cut-price deal

Manchester United are prepared to part ways with goalkeeper Sergio Romero on a cut-price deal during the January transfer window.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The Argentine has been deemed surplus to requirements and he was not included in the club's Premier League and Champions League squads earlier this season.

His current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but United are expected to trigger a clause to extend his contract for another 12 months.

According to Football Insider, the Red Devils want to offload Romero at the earliest and are prepared to accept as low as £2m for his sale next month.

Meanwhile, they are also open to loan offers for the experienced goalkeeper, but will want the player's salary to be paid in full.

Romero was the back-up goalkeeper for the Red Devils for the past five seasons, but Dean Henderson has taken the role this term.

Henderson spent the past two seasons on loan with Sheffield United where he excelled. He has now got his chance as the deputy to David de Gea.
