United concerned over Pogba's contract situation

Manchester United fear losing Paul Pogba on a free transfer

09 June 2021 - 21:02

Manchester United are concerned that they could lose midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer next summer.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Pogba has been with the club for the past five seasons, but he has just 13 months remaining on his contract.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils have yet to give up on the midfielder, and plan to hold fresh contract talks after Euro 2020.

However, they are concerned that the Frenchman could delay negotiations beyond the summer to invite interest from clubs.

The 28-year-old would be free to negotiate a pre-contract with a foreign club in January. United are keen to avoid the situation.

So far, there has not been any breakthrough over a new deal with reports suggesting that the midfielder wants £400,000-a-week.

United are unlikely to meet his demands as things stand. They could sell him on a cut-price deal this summer if there is no agreement.

He was purchased for £89m five years ago. United may not receive more than £50m with his current contract situation.
