Arsenal have suffered a potential blow with Brighton & Hove Albion prepared to keep hold of Ben White.
The Gunners have been in negotiations with Brighton for the centre-back, but they have yet to finalise a fee.
According to The Argus, the Seagulls are not actively looking to sell White, and they could keep the defender.
They have already returned down two bids from the Gunners with the highest being £45m plus £5m in add-ons.
It is unclear what their asking price is, and it would take a 'nonsensical' offer convince them into selling their prized asset.
The Gunners are planning a big spending spree, and have their sights on signing at least seven players this summer.
They have already landed left-back Nuno Tavares, and are expected to sign Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga.
They still have their sights on landing another defensive midfielder, playmaker, right-back, goalkeeper and centre-back.
A huge outlay on White could hamper their transfer business. It remains to be seen whether they look at alternative options.
