Hitzfeld wary of Zenit

23 April 2008 - 21:28

Bayern Munich boss Ottmar Hitzfeld remains worried about the threat of Zenit St Petersburg. The two sides get ready for a UEFA Cup semi-final on Thursday, and warned the Bundesliga side not to underestimate the threat of Zenit.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • "They’re a technically strong team who play extremely well and at high pace on the break," he told FCBayern.com.

"[They are] definitely a leading European team. St. Petersburg are undoubtedly our strongest opponents in the competition so far. They have some world-class players.

"You know it’s a big game when so many people show up.For me it is always important that we play well and take all our chances and that begins with the defence.

"We have got to be very stable and let them have as few chances as possible.

"Then, maybe we can look to attack. A 1-0 or 2-0would be a good result, but even then nothing would be decided."
