Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has confirmed that Edinson Cavani missed the recent Southampton game with a groin problem.
The Uruguay international has experienced a difficult second campaign with the Red Devils amid injuries and competition for places.
He has netted only two goals so far, and there is widespread speculation that he will be leaving the club when his contract expires in June.
Rangnick has now revealed that Cavani made himself unavailable against the Saints as he could not play with a painful groin injury.
The German tactician added that he is unsure regarding his fitness, and the 34-year-old remains a big doubt for the Brighton game on Tuesday.
United have been poor in the Premier League over the past two matches with back-to-back 1-1 draws. They are now facing a difficult top-four battle.
