Manchester United are ready to meet the price tag for Villarreal defender Pau Torres this summer, Marca reports.
The central defender was heavily linked with the club last summer, but a deal did not materialise in the end.
Talks were held with his representatives, but they eventually landed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £42m.
The move has not proved worthwhile thus far amid injuries and United are now looking for another centre-back.
According to Marca, Torres has re-emerged as an option, and United are this time willing to seal an agreement.
They are prepared to meet the reported £43m asking price, and a transfer could be completed in the coming days.
His agents are willing to travel to Manchester to finalise personal terms as soon as United sort out the transfer fee.
Torres has also been on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur in the past, but he has his sights on joining the Red Devils.
