The Red Devils are keen on signing a new centre-back this summer, and they have already been linked with multiple names.

Ajax\'s Jurrien Timber has been mentioned as the top target, but he is reluctant to join the club in a World Cup year with the Netherlands.

This could see the club look at alternative options, and Gazzetta dello Sport claims that they have registered their interest in De Vrij.

De Vrij is already 30, but continues to play in his prime. He has been a mainstay in the Inter set-up over the past few seasons.

The Dutchman has a year left on his contract, and appears likely to be sold as he is reluctant to extend his stay while accepting a pay-cut.

Chelsea are planning to swoop for his services, but United could offer stiff competition. The former Lazio man is valued at £13 million.
