Chelsea have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski this summer.
The Blues are currently assessing the future of Romelu Lukaku, and it has been reported that he could be loaned to former club Inter.
In that case, they could pursue a marquee striker and Bild cites that the Blues are keeping a close eye on Lewandowski's situation.
Lewandowski has made it clear that he wants to leave Bayern, and reports have claimed that Barcelona are his preferred destination.
However, the Catalans are not in a position to afford his wages or transfer fees. They need to offload several players to balance their books.
This could pave the way for a move elsewhere, and it is claimed that Chelsea could compete for him with PSG and Manchester United.
Lewandowski has shown no signs of slowing down despite turning 33. He netted a staggering 50 goals from just 46 appearances last term.
He now appears determined to pursue a fresh challenge away from Bayern, and could be enticed to test himself in the Premier League.
