Man Utd confirm Lisandro Martinez agreement

17 July 2022 - 19:46

Manchester United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign Lisandro Martinez this summer.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game

  • The Red Devils had been in prolonged negotiations for the Argentina international, and they have eventually reached an agreement.

United did not specify anything else on their website, but Fabrizio Romano reports that Martinez will sign a five-year contract with the club.

A huge outlay of €57m plus €10m has been made for his services, but the decision should be worthwhile as he will be a key player for United.

Martinez is a central defender, but can also play in the holding midfield role. He is strong with his tackling, interceptions and ability to clear his lines.

He is also solid when it comes to winning aerial duels, and should prove a superb acquisition for United once he adapts to the Premier League.

Martinez is set to become United\'s third signing of the summer after the arrivals of Christian Eriksen (free transfer) and Tyrell Malacia.
